i have never shopped (as in bought an item) from forever21. it’s not that the clothes are not pretty or appealing…i think it just became an unconscious yet conscious decision of mine to not shop there because of the molded perception i have of the store ever since i was in middle school.
i remember as a kid growing up i would always pass by the store and i would think the clothes looked too “grown up.” and back then (which was not all that long ago) i thought “21” was quite far ahead in the future and was the monumental “mature” age, thereby the clothes are “mature” looking and didn’t quite fit my “young” taste. but as i think about it, it’s pretty scary! to think about how far i have come, how many years i have lived….it’s kind of bizarre that i am blogging about a store i don’t shop at to sort out my thoughts on turning 21.
anyhow, i know i won’t be 21 forever. so just like any other birthday, any other day, any other year, i shall try to be a wise steward and be a grateful child for the many blessings i have been given, for the life He has given to me, and for the surreal LOVE that is always overflowing, immeasurable, and unfathomable.
today, september 8, 2009, this 21yearold’sdayofbirth is not about herself. it is about those who love and support her.
let me recall a touching moment….it is truly a picture that captures my heart’s sentiments.
»>a man gave a woman two boxes on her birthday. one box contained a pair of shoes for her to use. the other box contained two pair of shoes.
why two boxes? why did the other box have two pair of shoes?
the man wrote to her: “HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. I guessed your size when i bought these. i am not sure if it fits you. let’s run together in these sneakers someday. AND i bought a pair of shoes for you parents, too. someone once told me, birthdays are not only for oneself but also for the parents who gave birth to that special person. may you be able to run together with your loved ones in the race of life for many more years to come.”
:) this made me smile 10000x and made my heart melt. he really knows what to say and write.
THANKS! you and the few are what counts = loved ones.
it is my sincerest hope that we’d all be able to run forever21, whether here on earth or in heaven.
yes, i hope i can run with you and you…to run the race of ENDURANCE, hard and strong towards Christ and NOT foolishly after the wind.
